Grant Program

 

Available Services

 

Five Focus Areas for Funding & Associated Service Options:

The program targets local governments on investment in five essential cybersecurity focus areas: 

  1. Security Awareness Training (SAT) for the Non-Technical Workforce
  2. Professional Development (PD) Training for the Cyber Professional & Key Leader
  3. Endpoint Detection & Response,
  4. Network Traffic Monitoring, and
  5. Multi-Factor Authentication​

The intent is to provide an opportunity to apply for a range and combination of services that best meet your cybersecurity needs (fill cybersecurity gaps) based on your available resources and operational capabilities.

TRAINING


1. Security Awareness Training for the General Workforce

Eligible Service Options:

a. KnowBe4 Diamond-Tier Licenses through a State of MontanaContract.This option has a limit of one license per employee.
b. CyberMontanaSAT: This option is for entities with ≤50 employees and no in-house IT.
c. Other SAT Service Providers: Apply for direct funding for service from other vendors

 

 

2. Professional Development Training for the Cyber Professional & Key Leader

Eligible Service Option:

a. SANS Institute PD Vouchers: Limit of one training voucher perapplicant sourced through the State of Montana (SITSD) contract
b. CyberMontanaPD Services: Multiple vouchers available through Ed2Go, CyBrary, ISC2, and CompTIA ($5,100 baseline reimbursement per organization)
c. Other PD Service Providers:Apply for direct funding for servicefrom other vendors with a baseline reimbursement of $5,100. A directly funded service option requires the applicant to covers the initial cost for the service and be reimbursed by Montana DES.

 

PROTECTION


3. Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)

Eligible Service Option:

SentinelOne is the sole SLCGP service option for this focus area. 

Apply for SentinelOne licenses based on the number of employee workstations and servers in your organization.

 

 

4. Network Traffic Monitoring

Eligible Service Options:

1. ​CIS Albert Sensors: $13,560 (small bandwidth network) or $16,800(medium/large bandwidth network) annually. This is a directly fundedservice option which means that the applicant covers the initial cost for the service and is reimbursed by Montana DES.
2. PISCES: A no-cost service for public sector organizations with fewer than 150 employees. PISCES provides the service through a Universityof Montana workforce development program that the State of Montana funds through a legislative initiative.

 

 

5. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Eligible Service Option:

 Applicants are eligible to request this focus area to initiate new multi-factor authentication capabilities, OR to increase existing multi-factor authentication capabilities

Funding may be requested for a one-year service agreement including hardware and set-up for a system from a recognized provider. All MFA providers are subject to approval of the SLCGP committee.
