Jeff Gates has been with MT DES since July 2014.  He is a Senior District Field Officer and Senior Duty Officer who primarily serves the areas of South Central Montana.  Prior to working at MT DES, Jeff was a first responder, working for the fire department for 35+ Years, 22 of them as a fire chief.  His experience includes working in law enforcement for four years.  

Additionally, Jeff served as a Disaster and Emergency County Coordinator for seven years, covering Musselshell County during the years the county had five Presidential Disaster Declarations in four years.  He has completed many courses, trainings, and exercises in Response, Recovery, Mitigation, and Planning since joining MT DES.  As a subject matter expert, Jeff is also an instructor and trainer for MT DES in several disciplines.
