Deputy Consul E. Alejandro Martinez Lopez, Mexico Consulate from Boise, Idaho Visits Montana Disaster and Emergency Services
The Mexico Deputy Consulate toured Montana DES’ State Emergency Coordination Center (SECC) and other facilities at Fort Harrison.
On September 9th the Montana DES in Helena hosted Deputy Consulate Alejandro Martinez Lopez as part of the Deputy’s tour of the region.
The Mexico Deputy Consulate toured Montana DES’ State Emergency Coordination Center (SECC) and other facilities at Fort Harrison. MT DES representatives engaged in an informal Q&A with the goal of learning more about how we can coordinate communication efforts with the Consulate to better serve and protect Mexican Nationals living in western Montana before, during, and after emergencies or disasters.
The Mexico Consulate provides consular protection and assistance with immigration, human rights, emergencies, educational opportunities, health guidance, criminal, administrative, work, and family matters. Stationed at the Mexican Consulate in Boise, Idaho; Deputy Consulate Martinez works with Idaho and western Montana to foster a cooperative environment for business opportunities and cultural exchanges.
Deputy Consulate Martinez shared information on services the consulate can offer such as assisting with integrated language and cultural messaging for Mexican nationals living in Montana.
Montana DES Preparedness Bureau Chief, Burke Honzel provided an overview of the State situational awareness and response structure during a disaster, as well as details about disaster communication processes including point of contacts at the local and state levels.Tags: Home
